I am so happy with the progress on our home. I think this is obvious
if you read the blog posts. But there are things which sometimes need to
be addressed because they were not done well the first time. Here are
some pictures I took yesterday:
It makes me wonder if this guy was doing this work for himself or family/friends - would he do this sort of job? I know very well about gaps between the baseboards and walls. But to me this stuff was plain bad workmanship. I know our PM will take care of it, so I'm not worried about it, just surprised anyone would be willing to do this and leave it this way. Maybe some of it is because I know how things are supposed to be done - my parents did a lot of custom trim work. I spent a few odd weekends and summer days installing lock sets and the like. But I think anyone would see the problems in this. What do you think?
I think that looks like pretty sloppy work - and I'd say something.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you - I'm happy with the progress of our home, but I think how they handle some of these later issues before closing will really impact my overall opinion.
My PM would def be getting a phone call if this was at my site. It looks super sloppy but I am they will take care of it. What ever happened to doing thing correctly the first time? There's so much waste with this process sometimes.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely unacceptable! So much time and effort would be saved if people just took a little pride in their workmanship and did things right the first time. Hope your PM takes care of this for you!

ReplyDeleteI had a call from my PM who says there are a couple of issues to be addressed, but that is how it is done.

That's terrible! I hope after they make their fixes you are happy. If not, tell your PM. If he wants a ten on his survey then it is his job to supervise the subcontractors and ensure they are providing quality workmanship. GL and please keep us posted!
ReplyDeleteok, that is NOT how it is done! NOBODY would chop a tiny piece to fill a gap in a corner. I would send those pictures to the president of Ryan and ask if that's how it is done. And then have him contact me so I can attest my trim did not "get done" like that. That is uncalled for and I would threaten to tear it up myself if they do not remove and start over. Caulk does great things, but it does not hide that shit!
ReplyDeleteseriously, that's what he said? "that's how its done"?! google search and find me anywhere that says that bullshit corner piece jammed in there is "how it's done". That can not be hidden with caulk. I am actually pretty pissed at this. Let me know how this works out.

ReplyDeleteI am an amateur at this sort of thing, but I would never leave my work looking like this. Not only is this not "how its done" but Ryan homes should no longer sub this guy any work. This is unacceptable.
